Players can select from eight vinyl categories but can only create a single layer of vinyl. Customising a vehicle with any vinyl style will give the player a medium decrease of their heat level. All vinyl styles can be further customised with one or two colours of the player's choice. The Flame In Most Wanted even the starter cars had a great sense of speed to them whereas in Carbon even the endgame cars don't really feel that fast. Also it's worth mentioning that Tier 1 and Tier 2 cars can't have Ultimate upgrades in Carbon, unlike Most Wanted where you could bring virtually any piece of shit on par with the BMW M3 GTR. Gameplay operates on the same manner as previous entries such as Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Need for Speed: Carbon, now including a larger selection of licensed real-world cars, and RPG-styled system in the game's main story mode. The pursuits are easier in Carbon (it's only harder to evade), races are easy, too (I finished at least 70% of the game without spending a cent). AI isn't any better in my opinion.
